Torrey Pines take 2nd PLACE at the Mt. Carmel Linemen Competition!

13 varsity teams competed in the 2024 lineman competition held at Mt. Carmel High School.
There were 8 events, including pushing a truck, bench press, bar hang, weighted trap bar run, medicine ball throw, agility course, wounded teammate carry, and hot dog eatting. At the end of the 7 events, team scores were added up to determine seeding for a tug-of-war championship bracket.
1. The first of the eight events for Torrey wa a 200 lbs. bar trap race, where the Falcons outran the competition.

2. The second event was the truck push

3. The thrid and fourth events brought the boys to the weight room, where their morning lifts paid off. First up was the bench press (counted reps of 185 lbs). Saardhat Nagaram led the Falcons with 22!

Next up, the bar hang.

5. The remaining events brought the boys out to the field. First up, medicine ball toss, where some our boys managed to get it across the 15 yard line.

6. Next, “injured man run”, where the falcons unique technique earned them first place, and the only team to record single digit times, with one team going 8.84.
7. The final event was the agility course, where Torrey got the fastest time by 4 seconds.
At the end of all the events, scores were added up and teams were seeded for a tug-of-war bracket to decide the champion.
Tug-of-war, round 1 vs. the Mount Carmel Sundevils.
The semi-finals were against the Ramona Bull Dogs, where the Falcons showed their grit and determination.
Finals – winner takes all. #1 seed Cathedral took care of business and met Torrey Pines in the finals. Unfortunately Torrey Pines fell short, but overall had a great showing, placing 2nd overall!
